_It's raining cats_

It rained.

And if it wouldn't be purely metaphorical, one could even say the sky had a flooding. Thunder was hunted by lightning, the rain beat heavily on his dark umbrella as Ichinose Tokiya fumbled for the keys in his pocket.

The cold seeped into his bones, making his fingers stiffer and stiffer with every passing raindrop. Eventually, when his fingers grabbed the key, his movements quickened.

Now, finally, he was able to open the door to the warmth of his home; placing the umbrella next to the bright colourful one, slipping out of his dripping jacket and shoes, he let the warmth slowly claiming him. Surly bit by bit the warmth chased the cold away – not all of it, but a good bit.

>
Tokiya smiled gently and stepped further into the flat towards the laughter; he hadn't made much noise – almost none at all, so Otoya shouldn't have realized he was already home from the latest drama filming.

His heart throbbed with anticipation. He took a breath, gentle, noiseless and decided, then he opened the door. Cosiness and happiness flooded his body, surprise halted it – him.

"Welcome home!" Otoya greeted him with a bright smile, the eyes dancing with happiness. Soft blankets littered the floor around him, almost inviting to sit on the ground. Calming music came from the high fidelity unit, like always.

"I am home…" he answered, eyes never quite leaving the ground. Something was different. And that was— "Otoya… why are there kittens in _our_ flat?"

The answer was plain and simple, but _not_ an answer. "It's raining outside!" Otoya answered, gesticulating lively and then raised a kitten between them, "Aren't they cuties?"

The kitten meowed. Tokiya couldn't exactly disagree with Otoya. "I came from outside, but _why_ are they here?"

Otoya seemed to think for a moment, before answering or understanding what exactly Tokiya wanted to know. "I couldn't exactly leave them outside, they'd _freeze_."

Tokiya shook his head. "That _still_ doesn't answer my question. Why are they here and not at _their_ home?"

There was a slight hesitation. "They don't have one", Otoya then answered. "The children of the orphanage found them and fed them, but pets aren't allowed." He scratched the purring kitten on his lap though the dark fur. "And I couldn't leave them outside."

Another kitten gently bumped its head against Tokiya's leg and meowed. Dark eyes gazed into green. He sighed gently and picked it up before walking over to Otoya. "It would have been unlike you to leave them outside." Otoya opened his mouth to complain, before Tokiya gently shut him up. "It would have been cruel, and you are kind."

A stripped kitten snuggled into Tokiya's lap as soon as he sat down next to Otoya and stole his mug of hot chocolate to warm himself further up, even though almost all cold had disappeared by now. Then with a lovely smile Otoya mentioned almost absentminded, "They could be our children."

Instead of spluttering out the chocolate or anything equally embarrassing, he just put the mug back down on the low table. "We don't have anything to take care of cats."

"It's only Tuesday, I can head to the pet shop tomorrow while you're at the set. I'm sure someone is willing to take care of them while I'm away."

Tokiya sighed again, but utterly content this time. "Guess so."

He leaned against Otoya's shoulder, closing his eyes in the process. The small kitten on his lap started to snore in between of its purrs.
